Myst is a light purple unicorn with a lighter-colored blaze on his nose, a blaze on his chest, dapples on his rump, and lighter tufts of hair on his pasterns. His build is lithe and thin, with an elegant horn protruding from his forehead. His mane and tail are a darker purple with pink and yellow stripes, cut in a choppy fashion, and he has some scruff along his jaw and chin. His eyes are periwinkle, and he accessorizes his horn and mane with gold clips.

Myst is a very smart stallion, and quite gifted in magic. However, he is a known troublemaker, often acting out because things don't engage him enough. As blessed as he is in magic, he was not blessed with the gift of friendliness. Mystic can be callous, arrogant, and argumentative, and is overall not particularly interested in maintaining relationships with others. Despite his shortcomings, deep down is a sad soul that just needs to be shown a little kindness and acceptance. He cares deeply for his younger sisters, even if he has a hard time showing it.

Mystic was born and raised in Canterlot, the eldest of three. His gifted magic ability was recognized early on, and he was enrolled in Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns as soon as he was able. Unfortunately when he was 8 years old, his mother, a brilliant scientist, passed unexpectedly after an accident in the lab shortly after Mystic's youngest sister was born.

Forced to be raised by a rather absent and demanding father, Mystic began acting out in school, struggling with grief and emotions he had no outlet for. Although he was certainly smart enough to do the work, his heart wasn't in it, and he struggled in all his classes. He also took care of his younger siblings when he could, hiding his emotions from them in order to provide them with the best he could do.

Mystic very nearly flunked out of school in his teenage years, getting involved with a rough crowd that made him dependent on unsavory substances. He managed to tough it out and earn his degree...with one stipulation. He needed to do some long, hard time in Ponyville to work on his attitude with the newly-named Princess of Friendship. Oh joy...
